I have taken many photographs in Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, often surrounded by other photographers, and have been asked some interesting questions. The question I will answer today is, “What are you photographing?”.
I don’t mind the question itself, as long as it is asked in a polite/friendly manner, but, when a large group of photographers with cameras and long lenses are standing around waiting (rather than taking pictures), the answer truly is, “Nothing at the moment.”! This doesn’t mean that what we have been waiting for won’t reappear and prompt a flurry of shutter clicks, but the lack of use of those cameras and long lenses (hanging from necks or sitting idle on tripods) is a very good indicator that we are telling the truth.
